How to Prepare for Your

Ceremony at La Matriztica

Ceremonies ask something of us before it begins.

The way you eat, rest, and move throughout the days before you arrive shapes your experience. These guidelines are here for you to make the most of your La Matriztica journey.

The Dieta

The dieta is a period of intention before ceremony. It asks you to simplify — to reduce noise in the body and mind so there is more room for stillness. We ask you to follow it not as a rule but as an act of respect for the work you are about to do.

What to bring

You do not need to bring much. A journal. Water. Comfortable clothes for sleeping. Insect repellent. If there is something small that carries meaning for you, bring that too. But most importantly bring an open heart and mind.

Before you arrive

Intention

Setting a clear intention is a meaningful part of preparing for ceremony. Your intention acts as a compass — something to return to when you need grounding, and something to carry with you as you step into the space.

Take time before you arrive to reflect on what is present for you. What are you ready to look at? What are you willing to release? What question feels most alive in you right now?

You do not need to arrive with answers. An honest question is the perfect place to begin.

What To

Expect

Every ceremony at La Matriztica opens with a talk from Brad and Sarah. There is time to settle, to breathe, to be present and to ask any questions before anything begins.
The ceremony itself is an immersive and unique experience for everyone that moves through music — icaros, chanting, prayer — all held by Brad and Sarah throughout the night.

In the morning Brad and Sarah share a closing talk and there is space to speak, to be witnessed, and to rest.

If you have questions about preparation, the dieta, or what to expect, the FAQ is a good place to start.
